The Wessex Salon Culinaire, part of WorldSkills UK, is the UK's biggest Young Chef & Waiting Competition
The quest to find the UK’s best chefs is underway with entries now open for the 2010 Wessex Salon Culinaire for ambitious chefs and restaurant service professionals in employment, training or education to enter. For the first time in the competitions six year history it will include the WorldSkills UK Cooking, Confectioner/Pastry Chef and Restaurant Services competitions. "As a seasoned competitor and employer of young chefs, the Wessex Salon Culinaire was the ideal choice for my team members to get aquainted with competition experience, the classes represent skills and classical knowledge and hand a real test to anyone from Michelin standard to first year student. Simon Hulstone, Award Winning Executive Chef, The Elephant, Torquay Competition Classes & PrizesLots of individual classes including Hot Live, Cold Live , Static Classes and:- WorldSkills UK - compete in one of these skills - Cooking, Confectioner/Pastry Chef or Restaurant Service - Choose three classes within the skill brief. You will be awarded a Wessex Salon Culinaire certificate and medal for each class, then an overall WorldSkills UK award for your overall skill achievement. Competitors from each skill maybe shortlisted, mentored and ultimately selected for the WorldSkills Olympics in London in 2011. Nestlé Professional® CHEF® @ Salon - Open to experienced chefs - one class each day - Winners of this class will be invited along with their partners, to The O2 arena London to watch an internationally acclaimed act, whilst enjoying full hospitality in the Nestlé Professional® Suite. This will be held at a mutually convenient date during Summer 2010. Runners up will receive a Nestlé Professional® goodie bag which will contain a CHEF® product , confectionery and coffee. Chefs Forum - Sponsored by Coastline Foodservice & Bournemouth & Poole College - winners will receive a copper skillet & prize money , which will be presented at the Show Dinner 16th March 2010. Caterer, Licensee & Hotelier Student of the Year - Students must submit a paper entry, which will be assessed and 8 finalists will be chosen to compete. Winners will receive a catering prize of their choice to the value of £300, the runner up will recive a prize upto the value of £100. About The Competition |
